We worked with TEW to help us remodel our kitchen, living room, and dining area in our 1960s split level home in Raleigh. Rima and Frances met with us many times throughout the course of our project. They really listened to what we were looking for and incorporated all of our priorities into their design. Throughout the process Rima and her team were organized, communicative, and transparent. All of the contractors and sub-contractors that were chosen by TEW did fantastic work. We encountered a few unexpected structural issues once demo was complete but TEW walked us through our options and were very clear about how timeline and budget would be impacted in each scenario. We felt informed and supported throughout our decision-making and are absolutely thrilled with the end result!
My young family was new to the process of house renovations and approaching a full kitchen remodel with a toddler was daunting.u003cbru003eRima and her team were wonderful every step of the way. Stephanie created a stunning kitchen design that was truly customized to enhance our real life. She asked great questions and listened deeply to our answers, honoring the input in a way that always made us feel understood. They respected our budget and it never impacted the quality of the design. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end and trusted the relationship between the design and execution.
We worked with TEW in fall 2023 to update the house we recently purchased. We cannot recommend them enough. The entire team is brilliant and the design updates to our house went above and beyond what we had hoped for. They listened to our needs and preferences and made recommendations that incorporated our thoughts with innovative and creative design elements.
We worked with Tew to redesign our kitchen, and they were fantastic! They took our very rough vision for what we wanted and needed our kitchen to be for a growing family and turned it into something both visually stunning and wonderfully more functional. They were a pleasure to work with from the design phase, through helping us find a contractor, on to putting in the final touches once all the building and installing was completed.
The TEW team recently completed a major remodel of our primary bathroom and closet. They were very attentive to our inspiration photos, and blended their own design sense seamlessly with our likes in coming up with a design we couldn’t have imagined on our own. They coordinated with their network of contractors so we had peace of mind in who came in and out of our home during the course of the project.

Exciting news! I contributed to an article for Southern Living!
It`s on a topic people are always asking about – how to make a living room feel warm and conversational for hosting. In this piece, I shared my thoughts on the answer I keep coming back to: layered lighting.
Give yourself more than one way to light a room, so the space can shift with your mood. Cleaning or having friends over? Overheads on. Winding down after a long day? Maybe just the picture lights and one good lamp.

11 years ago, I started TEW at my dining room table, with my dog Jupiter as my very first (and very unqualified) receptionist.🐾☎️
Not long after, I saw my work in print for the first time in our local paper. I think I bought every copy they had.
Today? We’ve been featured in Architectural Digest and Southern Living, we have a real office, 4 incredible employees, and more design dreams brought to life than I can count.
From humble beginnings to this, I’m so grateful for every client, collaborator, and cheerleader who’s been part of the journey. Here’s to the next 11. 🥂✨

These are the rooms where biophilic design does its quietest work. Our clients wanted to reconnect with nature after years in the city, so upstairs we leaned into what our nervous systems actually respond to: deep, cocoon-like color in the bedroom to signal rest, a color-drenched office to signal focus, and natural light and warmth to anchor it all. It’s not just a look. It’s biology.

Last time, we showed you the dining room and breakfast nook. Now we’re moving into the rooms that set the tone for the whole house: the entry, the living room, and the sitting room.
The entry is the first thing our clients saw when they walked through the front door, so we wanted it to feel like the house had been waiting for them. From there, the living room and sitting room were planned for two different kinds of evenings: one for gathering, one for slowing down.
We designed the majority of this home virtually, with our clients still living in California. Seeing it all come together was such a fun process.

The reveal we’ve been waiting all year to share.✨
This one’s special: a mid-century modern home in the Hillsborough, designed almost entirely from a distance. Our clients found their forever home in NC before they’d even left California, and we got to build their next chapter for them, screen by screen, sample by sample, months before they ever walked through the front door.
Every room was space-planned for the life they were moving into. Renderings, concept boards, mailed swatches, virtual calls across a three-hour time difference… and it came together like we’d been in the room the whole time.

For this Durham, NC residence, dubbed Chapel Hill Rd., our client wanted a home that felt light and cozy and gave nod to her island roots. Drawing inspiration from island culture, we infused the space with soft tones, organic textures, and breezy, natural elements to create a warm and inviting home. This breakfast nook was designed to feel light, airy, and full of energy.
As a neurodivergent designer, I think a lot about how a space actually feels to be in, not just how it photographs. Bright color and playful pattern can be energizing rather than overwhelming when they’re balanced with clean lines and breathing room. The space stays lively without ever feeling like too much.
This speakeasy-inspired lounge was designed to feel like a secret getaway. Moody black walls set the stage, a bold printed wallpaper overhead turns the ceiling into art, and a pair of orange velvet chairs adds just the right amount of unexpected color.

Grateful for an incredible and busy summer! Between site visits, getting to know new clients and getting reconnected with old clients, design meetings, and getting to finish out some amazing projects, it’s been a whirlwind in the best way. This team has been on the move and showing up for it all, and we’ve loved every conversation and every space we got to be part of. From the first walkthrough to the final styling touches, each project has reminded us why we do this work. We love the work we get to do. No two days look the same and that’s exactly how we like it!
