We worked with TEW to help us remodel our kitchen, living room, and dining area in our 1960s split level home in Raleigh. Rima and Frances met with us many times throughout the course of our project. They really listened to what we were looking for and incorporated all of our priorities into their design. Throughout the process Rima and her team were organized, communicative, and transparent. All of the contractors and sub-contractors that were chosen by TEW did fantastic work. We encountered a few unexpected structural issues once demo was complete but TEW walked us through our options and were very clear about how timeline and budget would be impacted in each scenario. We felt informed and supported throughout our decision-making and are absolutely thrilled with the end result!
My young family was new to the process of house renovations and approaching a full kitchen remodel with a toddler was daunting.u003cbru003eRima and her team were wonderful every step of the way. Stephanie created a stunning kitchen design that was truly customized to enhance our real life. She asked great questions and listened deeply to our answers, honoring the input in a way that always made us feel understood. They respected our budget and it never impacted the quality of the design. When unexpected twists occurred during construction so we had to source new material, the TEW team were eager to help problem solve and approached it as an exciting challenge rather than an inconvenience.u003cbru003eWhen I stand in my new kitchen, it feels like an expression of my heart. Not only did TEW design a space built for functionality, they created a kitchen that feels like a permanent home.u003cbru003eThe contractor we worked with was recommended by TEW and is another example of TEW’s commitment to excellence. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end and trusted the relationship between the design and execution.
We worked with TEW in fall 2023 to update the house we recently purchased. We cannot recommend them enough. The entire team is brilliant and the design updates to our house went above and beyond what we had hoped for. They listened to our needs and preferences and made recommendations that incorporated our thoughts with innovative and creative design elements.
We worked with Tew to redesign our kitchen, and they were fantastic! They took our very rough vision for what we wanted and needed our kitchen to be for a growing family and turned it into something both visually stunning and wonderfully more functional. They were a pleasure to work with from the design phase, through helping us find a contractor, on to putting in the final touches once all the building and installing was completed.
The TEW team recently completed a major remodel of our primary bathroom and closet. They were very attentive to our inspiration photos, and blended their own design sense seamlessly with our likes in coming up with a design we couldn’t have imagined on our own. They coordinated with their network of contractors so we had peace of mind in who came in and out of our home during the course of the project.

To survive a kitchen renovation, set up a temporary kitchen before demo, make a plan for dishes, and expect a few delays along the way. The rest is about protecting your sanity until it’s done. A kitchen renovation is completely survivable. I know, because I survived mine under conditions I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It […]
What is biophilic design? Biophilic design is a concept in the design industry based on the evolutionary theory of biophilia, which studies human’s innate need to connect with the natural world. Biophilic interior design is a design approach that aims to improve health, well-being, and even productivity. We do this by bringing nature or natural […]
When our clients decided to relocate from California to North Carolina, they found their forever home before they’d ever set foot in the state. It was a beautiful mid-century modern style home in the Raleigh Triangle area with great bones, ready for some light updates and a lot of personalization. The catch was that they […]

What you see: a pretty pile of samples.
What it took: weeks of sourcing, testing, and editing for our Swansboro Lane project.
Oak, blush tile, woven stripe, teal pattern. Each one chosen for how it works with the others and with how this family actually lives.
So what does a designer do that you can’t? You could pull samples yourself. What we bring is the trained eye to know which ones belong together, access to trade only and custom pieces, and the coordination that keeps your project moving while you get your time back.
That quiet, behind the scenes work is what keeps a home cohesive and protects you from expensive mistakes.

Part 2 of our studio transformation! We gave our own space the same care we give our clients’ homes, and we’re still loving the result two years later.
As a neurodivergent designer, I know how much your environment shapes the way you focus and create. Every corner was planned around our daily workflow, and our team handled the design and renovation ourselves.
Two years in our home base, 11 years of doing what we love.
Save this one if you’re dreaming up an office makeover!

Celebrating 2 years in our new office location!
Two years ago, we moved into a space that needed a lot of love. The before was a blank canvas with potential we could see. The after? An office intentional for the way we work, designed and renovated by our own team.
As designers, we don’t just create spaces for our clients; we built one for ourselves, and it’s been a joy to work in every day since.
Here’s to two years in our home base, and to 11 years of doing what we love. 🥂
Save this reel for some office before and after inspiration!
Reveal day! 🎉 This modern eclectic living room and entry is full of color, warmth, and personality.
The goal was a home that feels finished, lived-in, and comfortable. We brought in new furnishings and accessories with a mix of warm tones, bold color, and modern shapes, then made sure everything works as hard as it looks, with storage and function built into every spot.
One piece did make the cut: sentimental side chairs our clients love. We designed around them. Some things are worth holding onto. 🪑

Find Your Design Style, live at Flourish Coworking ✨
Last Friday, we spent the afternoon with the Flourish community and it was a room full of people ready to finally make sense of their spaces.
Rima started with a simple question: what annoyed you about your space today? From there, we worked through journal prompts, mapped out personal style, and talked through how color, layout, and clutter shape the way we think, feel, and work. Functional first, then feeling.
Thank you for the Flourish team for hosting us and for everyone who showed up with so much curiosity! This was a fun one!

Exciting news! I contributed to an article for Southern Living!
It`s on a topic people are always asking about – how to make a living room feel warm and conversational for hosting. In this piece, I shared my thoughts on the answer I keep coming back to: layered lighting.
Give yourself more than one way to light a room, so the space can shift with your mood. Cleaning or having friends over? Overheads on. Winding down after a long day? Maybe just the picture lights and one good lamp.
It`s such a small change, but it transforms how a room feels.

11 years ago, I started TEW at my dining room table, with my dog Jupiter as my very first (and very unqualified) receptionist.🐾☎️
Not long after, I saw my work in print for the first time in our local paper. I think I bought every copy they had.
Today? We’ve been featured in Architectural Digest and Southern Living, we have a real office, 4 incredible employees, and more design dreams brought to life than I can count.
From humble beginnings to this, I’m so grateful for every client, collaborator, and cheerleader who’s been part of the journey. Here’s to the next 11. 🥂✨

We’ve shown you the dining room and breakfast nook, then the entry, living room, and sitting room. Now it’s time for the private side of the home: the primary bedroom, the music room, and the office.
These are the rooms where biophilic design does its quietest work. Our clients wanted to reconnect with nature after years in the city, so upstairs we leaned into what our nervous systems actually respond to: deep, cocoon-like color in the bedroom to signal rest, a color-drenched office to signal focus, and natural light and warmth to anchor it all. It’s not just a look. It’s biology.
Swipe through to see all three rooms. 👉

Last time, we showed you the dining room and breakfast nook. Now we’re moving into the rooms that set the tone for the whole house: the entry, the living room, and the sitting room.
The entry is the first thing our clients saw when they walked through the front door, so we wanted it to feel like the house had been waiting for them. From there, the living room and sitting room were planned for two different kinds of evenings: one for gathering, one for slowing down.
We designed the majority of this home virtually, with our clients still living in California. Seeing it all come together was such a fun process.
Stay tuned, because there’s more of this home still to come.👀

The reveal we’ve been waiting all year to share.✨
This one’s special: a mid-century modern home in the Hillsborough, designed almost entirely from a distance. Our clients found their forever home in NC before they’d even left California, and we got to build their next chapter for them, screen by screen, sample by sample, months before they ever walked through the front door.
Every room was space-planned for the life they were moving into. Renderings, concept boards, mailed swatches, virtual calls across a three-hour time difference… and it came together like we’d been in the room the whole time.
This is one of our favorite projects of the year, and we can’t wait to walk you through it room by room. To see the virtual design process in depth, read the blog! Linked in our story depth, read the blog! Linked in our story

For this Durham, NC residence, dubbed Chapel Hill Rd., our client wanted a home that felt light and cozy and gave nod to her island roots. Drawing inspiration from island culture, we infused the space with soft tones, organic textures, and breezy, natural elements to create a warm and inviting home.
