We’re in the Spotlight: TEW Featured in Kitchen & Bath Design News
We’re proud to share that TEW Design Studio was recently featured in Kitchen & Bath Design News for two bold primary bathroom renovations. This national recognition celebrates our team’s approach to design–one that embraces color, creativity, and collaboration.
The featured projects showcase what’s possible when clients are open to exploring unconventional palettes and layouts. Both spaces were transformed from standard, all-white bathrooms into vibrant, personalized retreats with custom details throughout.
One of the designs was also named a Kitchen & Bath Design Awards Winner in 2024, affirming our team’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries and elevating everyday spaces.
Project One: A Graphic, Mid-Century-Inspired Primary Bath
Originally a dated, builder-grade bathroom, this space lacked energy and visual interest. Our team redesigned the layout to accommodate a larger walk-in shower and introduced graphic tile in a glossy finish that brightens the entire room.
To bring cohesion to the space, terrazzo-look porcelain tile was used throughout the floor, creating a seamless transition into the curbless shower. Mid-century-inspired plumbing and lighting fixtures helped complete the transformation, resulting in a clean and contemporary update.
This project can be found in our portfolio, dubbed Durham Station.
Project Two: A Color-Driven Bathroom with a Playful Edge
In this primary bathroom, bold color and pattern take center stage. An emerald green herringbone tile sets the tone for a custom wet room, framed by salmon-toned surrounds and a royal blue trim.
Balancing playfulness with intention, our team created a layout that’s as functional as it is vibrant. Dual toiletry niches, a quartz bench, and a built-in planter box introduce softness and spa-like appeal. Each element was carefully considered to ensure that color, texture, and light work together harmoniously.
This project was awarded a Kitchen & Bath Design Award, a recognition of its creative vision and technical execution.
This project can be found in our portfolio, dubbed Pine Birch.
Design Takeaways
These projects demonstrate that bathrooms can be elevated through thoughtful design choices in materials, color, and layout. A few key takeaways:
Bold tile selections create visual interest and enhance lighting
Color blocking can unify contrasting tones and textures
Curbless showers support a clean, modern aesthetic
Small details–like niches and built-ins–add everyday luxury

How Do You Brighten a Room With No Natural Light? The instinct is almost always the same: keep everything white, keep it light, keep it neutral. The thinking goes that a space without natural light cannot handle color, cannot handle depth, cannot handle anything that might make it feel smaller or darker. We disagree. When […]
