We worked with TEW to help us remodel our kitchen, living room, and dining area in our 1960s split level home in Raleigh. Rima and Frances met with us many times throughout the course of our project. They really listened to what we were looking for and incorporated all of our priorities into their design. Throughout the process Rima and her team were organized, communicative, and transparent. All of the contractors and sub-contractors that were chosen by TEW did fantastic work. We encountered a few unexpected structural issues once demo was complete but TEW walked us through our options and were very clear about how timeline and budget would be impacted in each scenario. We felt informed and supported throughout our decision-making and are absolutely thrilled with the end result!
My young family was new to the process of house renovations and approaching a full kitchen remodel with a toddler was daunting.u003cbru003eRima and her team were wonderful every step of the way. Stephanie created a stunning kitchen design that was truly customized to enhance our real life. We worked with TEW in fall 2023 to update the house we recently purchased. We cannot recommend them enough. The entire team is brilliant and the design updates to our house went above and beyond what we had hoped for. They listened to our needs and preferences and made recommendations that incorporated our thoughts with innovative and creative design elements.
We worked with Tew to redesign our kitchen, and they were fantastic! They took our very rough vision for what we wanted and needed our kitchen to be for a growing family and turned it into something both visually stunning and wonderfully more functional. They were a pleasure to work with from the design phase, through helping us find a contractor, on to putting in the final touches once all the building and installing was completed.
The TEW team recently completed a major remodel of our primary bathroom and closet. They were very attentive to our inspiration photos, and blended their own design sense seamlessly with our likes in coming up with a design we couldn’t have imagined on our own. They coordinated with their network of contractors so we had peace of mind in who came in and out of our home during the course of the project.

The most effective way to elevate a space without starting over is to identify what’s working, edit what isn’t, and layer in what’s missing. Our clients had pieces they loved. They just weren’t working in their new home yet. We started by identifying the things we could reuse, then sourced things that played well with the existing color pallet. At Bannerman Lane, our clients are a family of four who appreciate color, especially with an established artist as the matriarch. Their space needed direction and cohesion to tie all their rooms together. Two bathrooms and a fireplace later, we`re getting somewhere.
Most renovations without design leadership have a certain feeling to them. Not bad materials or wrong decisions, but disconnection. Each space gets solved in isolation and doesn`t connect as a whole house. That is what a full-service designer is actually for. Not just picking tile, but holding the whole direction at once so that every decision in every space is a part of the same conversation. A complete first floor renovation in Cary, NC where we opened up the kitchen and made it more accessible for this busy family. Better lighting, better storage, better flow. An entry that catches the chaos before it spreads. And a laundry room so good it almost makes rotating that load feel like a treat.

April was a whirlwind at TEW! From site visits and project installations to the fine details of selecting wood stains and countertops, we’ve been bringing designs to life! We also spent some time at High Point Market, an industry wide event where we get an exclusive look at new vendor product lines. Color doesn`t have to live on your walls. At Bittern Lane, we built an entire palette out of texture. Olive velvet, dark wood, woven wallcoverings, plush rugs. The color is everywhere. A half bath tucked under a staircase. Small footprint, big personality, all function. This one deserved to be seen and I just kept moving on to the next thing.
So here we are. Better late than never, right?

In large open spaces, homes can feel cold and overwhelming if not handled with care. At Bittern Lane, we focused on visual zoning to fix that. Rugs anchor the living area, wallpaper gives the dining zone its own identity, and furniture grouping does the rest. A large room stops feeling like one big space and starts feeling like a collection of places to land.
For many clients, a “second home” serves a specific purpose. To be closer to their children, our clients bought a home in Durham, NC and now split their time between California and Durham.
This project’s goal was all about creating a warm, cozy home for intentional family time. A place where the design does the work of slowing you down. We wanted to translate their relaxed California lifestyle to Durham, and did so by creating a transitional, functional home with pops of modern pieces to add personality.
