Downtown Raleigh kitchen remodel reveal
This past summer, readers followed our progress on this Raleigh interior design and kitchen remodel. Our project began in June to remodel this kitchen in a historic home in the popular Cameron Park neighborhood near the Village District and downtown Raleigh.
We recently had the project photographed and are ready to share our reveal!
Kitchen remodeling design selections
For their new kitchen, the homeowners sought a mix of their personal tastes for transitional and contemporary styles.
Our vision for the space came to life with a dramatic natural stone wall and range hood. As a result, we used more than 100 square feet of beautiful Arabescato D’oro marble.
Furthermore, we always incorporate clever storage solutions in our kitchen designs. In this case, pull-out organizers on both sides of the range for spices, utensils and pans.
A pendant light above the island serves as a centerpiece for the space. Meanwhile, the island itself features honed quartz Charcoal Soapstone from Silestone, and commissioned art by Jen Matthews perfectly compliments kitchen features.
Finishing this space, we created custom cabinetry in Blue Spruce to provide exceptional storage, with walls painted Benjamin Moore Gray Cashmere.
The original kitchen flooring had aged to the point of needing structural repairs prior to the checkerboard porcelain tile being installed.
Interior design to improve flow
We widened the doorway to an adjoining living room, which features floral texture wallpaper on the ceiling with a dramatic light fixture. Walls transitioned from a drab beige to Benjamin Moore Sequoia.
Similarly, we restored the fireplace with a new tile surround and period-compatible mantel. The homeowners had salvaged the piece, and we refinished it to help define the space. Visit this full project in our portfolio.
Inspiration for this kitchen remodel originated in the dining room and the many hidden gem details in the floral wallpaper. As a result, we used Benjamin Moore Lafayette Green on the ceiling to pull everything together.
