Kitchen Remodel Reveal in Chapel Hill
An ongoing relationship with a cherished client led to this kitchen remodeling project on Kenmore Road in Chapel Hill. We first met this couple virtually in 2020 during peak Covid lockdown. They had just purchased a mid-century residence with dated interiors but lovely bones.
Revisit that project reveal here, as you can see how we redesigned their bedroom, living and rooms, and guest bathroom. We recently completed a second phase, and today we’re reveling the kitchen remodel.

Previously, the kitchen had a set of upper cabinets that obstructed the view of those working in the kitchen and from communicating with anyone enjoying the adjacent living space.
The kitchen itself felt cramped with a peninsula separating the spaces. By replacing the large slider door with a single swing door, we were able to steal space for more functional cabinetry as well as expand the window above the new sink. By replacing the peninsula with an island, we opened the space to allow for multiple working zones and more room for entertaining.

The use of an earth-tone color palette modernized this kitchen and reflects the home’s exterior features. The result allows the mid-century residence to feel current, yet timeless.

The previous layout included a wall of closet shelving that flanked the double oven. As you can see, they were enclosed with bi-fold louvered doors that didn’t match the style of the home, nor did they function well. We opted to remove them and create a seamless built-in pantry, complete with rollout shelving.

The skylight is finally able to play a more prominent role in natural lighting with the previous upper cabinetry and soffit gone. Ceiling can lights and skylight trim were removed with precise detail to create much cleaner lines.
The skylight casts beautiful shadows throughout the day and reflects light off quartz countertops to give the kitchen a feeling that is open and bright.

Our talented craftsmen seamlessly matched the existing dark-stained trim to enable the new window and door fit right in. The family couldn’t be happier with the final result.Â

We are often tasked with planning a comprehensive whole-house interior redesign that can be completed in phases. Our team works closely with homeowners to create interior design timetables that work with their needs.
