Design for a Cause: The Green Chair Project

In the heart of Raleigh, a remarkable event is bringing together creativity, community, and charity in a unique way. The Green Chair Project Charity Event, happening September 19th, is an inspiring showcase of design talent and generosity.

This year, our TEWcrew had the pleasure of designing a grown-up game room that will be featured alongside 10 other stunning spaces created by local interior designers. Here’s a closer look at what makes this event so special–and how you can be a part of it!

A Vision of Giving Back

The Green Chair Project goes beyond design–it’s a heartfelt initiative that helps families in crisis or transition furnish their homes in the Triangle area. Through the proceeds of this charity event, families receive gently used or new furnishings, turning houses into homes and creating a lasting impact in our community.

A Cause Close to Home

We felt compelled to join this initiative after a colleague introduced us to The Green Chair Project and its incredible work. This mission resonates deeply with us–especially with our founder, Rima Nasser, an immigrant who understands the challenges of starting over in a new place.

The assistance this organization provides can be life-changing for families rebuilding after crisis or displacement. We are proud to contribute our passion for design to such a meaningful cause.

Designing for a Difference

This year’s event features 11 designers, each creating a unique space using donated and gently used furniture.

For our part, we designed a cozy grown-up game room featuring some of our favorite books and games, all set against the warm ambience of a fireplace. Each room in the event reflects the designer’s individual style while showcasing how thoughtfully curated furnishings can transform a space.

An Auction of Artistry

Adding to the excitement, attendees can bid on one-of-a-kind designer chairs featured in the rooms. These spaces aren’t just functional–they’re works of art, each with a unique creative touch. It’s a rare opportunity to bring home a standout piece while supporting a worthy cause.

How to Participate

Every item displayed in each designer’s room is available for purchase, with all proceeds going to The Green Chair Project’s goal of serving 25 families per week.
