Chapel Hill bathroom remodel breaks color barrier

We’re always honored to have the opportunity to work with clients on multiple projects. It’s a special treat when the family has wee little ones we get to see grow up before our eyes. For this project, the family entrusted us to update a bathroom to reflect the fun personalities for their two girls. Read on to learn more about this happy space where the girls get to begin and end their day.

Designing & updating a bath for kids

Our first time around, we created a playroom for the family. So, we had a good sense of their design sensibilities. This time, the scope of work was to create a better use of space by reconfiguring the vanity, bathing and shower areas to be more FUN-ctional for two girls. Using a blend of modern and transitional features throughout, we created an uplifting feel to the space.

Materials made FOR IMPACT

We were able to elevate the space using semi-custom cabinetry with more functional storage, a unique tile design that’s both fun and timeless, and durable materials like quartz and polished chrome finishes. The rainbow pattern we established features 2″ x 15″ tile in various colors in the shower and continued it into the tub area.

Semi-custom cabinetry in a fun blue color establishes storage suitable for the children to grow into. We installed durable quartz countertops with specs of mirror and shell embedded in it to reflect light into the otherwise dark space. Polished chrome fixtures provide long-term durability as well as cost savings. Terrazzo style porcelain floor tile compliments the room without overpowering or competing with the rainbow wall.

A modern, CASUAL STYLE

We focused on keeping this space sleek and modern, but most importantly fun, colorful and casual. This hall bathroom needed to be completely gutted to reach this point, save for the original tub which got re-glazed. View our portfolio to compare the before and after.

Bringing this bathroom in a ’90s home up to today’s standards was a pleasure. Having previously designed their family playroom, we were delighted to redesign this space for the girls. Knowing that they now have multiple spaces they can enjoy and grow into is a privilege and a joy.
