Award-winning updates evoke elegance in Wakefield

This residence in Raleigh’s Wakefield community received an interior design uplift to bring out its true elegance. By partnering with the general contractor, we were able to create a more luxurious, open and functional home. We elevated the space by highlighting timeless features and creating unique design surprises throughout.

We were proud to support our friends at Freys Building & Remodeling on the project. They received a 2020 Home Builders Association People’s Choice Remodeling Award for “Best General Room Remodel” for this bedroom, as well as second place for the bathroom makeover.

Owners’ suite opens to new possibilities

Originally, the main bedroom was closed off in large part to an overwhelming fireplace and wall cutting through the center of the room. We opened the space by removing it and reconfiguring the floorplan. Key design details helped to bring out the room’s elegance. An ornate chandelier compliments a unique patterned wallpaper, creating an alluring focal point for the tray ceiling. Hidden LED lights add a luminous glow.

Fine details create a grand entrance to the bedroom, thanks to luxurious door hardware, exceptional trim work and deep wood stain. Hers and his closet space was created to offer more organized storage.

A hideaway door in the far corner of this bedroom features trimwork to camouflage the entrance to a newly finished attic-turned-gentlemen’s closet. We transformed what was previously a closet into the entrance to his hideaway, complete with a dramatic spiral staircase. Finishing the attic created added space for quiet contemplation, enjoyment and relaxation.

Main bathroom receives a soothing touch

We stepped in upon completion of the bathroom remodel to focus on elevating its features. A deep, soothing wall color and custom window treatments provide sophistication.

This staircase went from ordinary to extraordinary with key modifications to emphasize its elegance and create a grand entrance. Custom trim work now adorns the walls to give the expansive space a sense of grandeur. Crisp white paint and dark stained banisters contrast each other beautifully, and open the space to new possibilities for artwork and artifacts to come. Ceiling lighting and venting were reconfigured and upgraded for improved energy efficiency.
